Pitfalls To Avoid 

 

If you've ever tried to earn money online, you already know how difficult it is.   There are several reasons 97% of those who try fail.   I will give you here the mistakes I made and learned from.  Try not to make them, too.  

 

Mistake #1 -  Believe that earning money online, is fast, easy, and someone else will do your work for you. Let me clarify this for you.  It is neither fast, nor easy.  It takes time and plenty of it; it takes hard work and plenty of it.  As for who's doing the work? You're IT.  Not your sponsor, not your team leader.  YOU. 

Mistake #2 - Treat online marketing as a hobby.  It CAN'T be, if you're serious about earning from it.  It has to be your first priority, period.  Please do not lie to yourself thinking you can do your regular job and squeeze in a couple of hours at the end of the day and do your "duty".  It will Not Work.  It is not enough. Not by far.   If you can't make it a priority, stop wasting your time. 

Mistake #3 - Start promoting a product before you study, understand, and use the product yourself.  Knowing and believing in your product is the key to "selling" it.  You can't believe in something you know nothing about and you can't share something you don't believe in. 

Mistake #4 - Look for and expect results too soon.  If you think that throwing a couple of links here and there, a few times a week, will result in a signup or a sale, you are in for huge disappointment.  When your unrealistic expectations are not met, you will quit. This takes us to the ....

Mistake #5 - Giving up too soon.  As you know, any type  of expectation can lead to disappointment.  Make that an unrealistic expectation and add to it lack of patience and you have your perfect recipe for failure.

Mistake #6 - Lack of commitment and determination.  Weak determination is a sure way to fail.  You've embarked on a long, difficult, challanging road.  If you start out by saying "I will try"  you failed before you started.  Try NOT.   DO IT!

Mistake #7 - Caring what those around you think about you and what you are doing.  Know that there will be plenty of "well-meaning" people around you, who will step in to save you from this "foolishness".  "Get this notion that you will ever earn money online out of your head", they chide.  DON'T listen to them.  Don't try to convince them  either. They will not be convinced. This is your vision, not theirs. 

Mistake # 8 - Selling your product to a complete stranger.  Do not throw your product at people.  No one wants to buy from you, just as you don't want to put money in someone else's pocket just because they are selling something.  Learn how to "offer value", instead of "selling".

Mistake #9 - Getting bored, getting tired, getting lax, becoming complacent.  You can't afford any of it. Being your own boss is essential to earning big, but it's not glamorous, as you may think.  You have to be able to hold yourself accountable.  If you don't, you'll find yourself doing things only when you "feel like it".  That won't work.    

Mistake #10 - Become stagnant.  The day you stop learning, growing, expanding, you will start losing ground.  It will be so much more difficult to make up the lost ground later.  Never stop growing.   

 

It's not enough to avoid pitfalls, you must have a set of Do's as well.  Yes, they are the opposites of the pitfalls, but it's still necessary to state them.  You can never read your do's enough times.  It's what will keep you focused and going. 

 

Must Do's 

 

Must #1 – Fail proof your business.  Decide you will be successful from day one.  If you give yourself a choice of saying “I will try”, you will find a hundred reasons every day why you should quit.  Decide from the start that you will stay with it as long as it takes.  UNTIL ~.

Must #2 – Make connections, create relationships.  Yes, this will take some time.  Maybe a long time.  It beats going nowhere fast.  Would you buy something from a stranger, just because he says it’s for sale?  No.  I rather go around the mountain and make fifty friends who will follow me anywhere, then throw my product at a thousand people who will not look at my ad for 10 seconds. 

Must #3 – Treat your online business as seriously as the best job you’ve ever had.  As if your livelihood depended on it.  Because it does. Don’t fool yourself thinking you will do this and that when you feel like it.  You will never feel like it.  Be diligent as if you had to answer to a boss. 

Must #4 – Be consistent.  Promote every single day.  Do it whether you feel like it or not.  You would not expect to get paid at the end of the week if you go to work one day, skip the next, go for another two days and skip the next.  If you want to turn your online business into something that will support you financially, then you have to show up every day.

Must #5 – Know your product.  In order to “offer value” with a product, you have to believe in it.  To believe in in a product you have to know what it does and use it yourself.  Study your product, understand it and believe in it, or else no one else will.

Must #6 – Track your ads.  Would you ever go fishing in a pond where you knew there was no fish?  No.  Would you like to know if a certain target market is more responsive than another?  I would.  You can either join a program that tracks your ads, or you can choose to have someone else promote for you.  I suggest  -  Traffic Magic 4U

Must #9 – Keep learning, searching, asking questions.  How difficult is it to type affiliate marketing tips, into your browser, and read what others are doing? Get into forums.  Ask questions, share something. 

Must #10 - Attach yourself to a group.  Don't be a loner.  Find a group of like-minded people you can associate with.  You will need help , encouragement, feed back, someone to hold you accountable.  Help is available.  Just ask.  But YOU are responsible for your success. And that is Good News!  Now no one can make you fail!
